If you remember the 80s and 90s then chances are you’ll remember that 2.4 children was the average number of children of the average family! But what exactly is an average family and how exactly do you have 2.4 children? Depending on where you live the ‘average’ is likely to be different. The current average UK family has 1.9 children, that figure is 1.14 in the US and 2 in China – surprising that the country that boasts the biggest population in the world only has an ‘average’ of two children per family.

The Cherenkov family of Sacramento
I will begin with the most recent discovery. This family comes out on record to have the highest number of children in the Sacramento. The couple has 17 children. They are originally from the Ukraine and believe to be blessed by God to have had so many children. Although they are a large family, they do not have as many resources to support their living. Vladimir, to over come the financial problems works most modestly as a security guard and a janitor at a school. He believes that God is in control of their finances, their family, and their faith. According to him, he had never known or thought of such a large family, especially of the fact that his wife Wendy would be able to produce so many children. He also believes that they are not masterminding or preplanning their future for becoming such a large family, but that their kids are the true assets and gifts from God. Each kid holds its own identity for them and is their world to them.
The Duggars Family
Michelle Duggar’s family claims itself to be the world’s biggest family. Michelle Duggar, 42 years old, was recently expected to give birth to her 19th baby. Michelle has been pregnant for 135 months of her life, with an average of 18 months between births. Her husband Jim Duggaar is just 44 years old. The Duggars had got married in the year 1984, when Michelle was 17 and Jim Bob was 19. All Duggar kids have been receiving private home schooling. They also do conjugal works which they call ‘jurisdictions’. Duggar family has so far used almost 100,000 nappies and they got washing machines running through out the day and night. Their usage of milk is at least seven liters a day. Their monthly grocery bill is $2,000 a month. As for daily items for usage, they use 15 dozen eggs, 12 boxes of cereal and 12 rolls of toilet paper to get through a week!
Brigham Young’s Family
Brigham Young was an American leader and a settler of the western United States. He was also the President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Young was a polygamist. He married a total of 55 wives and had 56 children by 16 of his wives; 46 of his children reached adulthood. Sixteen women gave birth to Brigham Young’s fifty-seven children. One of them had ten children; six of his wives had only one child each. Eleven of the sixteen women survived him. None of the women who bore him children canceled their sealing or remarried. To accommodate his family, he had built the Lion House. The house was a long rambling building with innumerable doors. It had enough space to consist of a parlor room, a bedroom and a front door key to each and every wife of his. The building still remains to be the Salt City landmark.
Daad Murad Abdul Rahman
Daad Murad Abdul Rahman is a 64-year-old man from the United Arab Emirates. He is (unbelievably though) the proud father of 88 children. But he still doesn’t wish to stop his passion for many kids, as he wishes to have a hundred kids. He is planning on marrying again, but this time to an 18-year-old Indian girl. And this just shows, he might make new records as the father with the most children in the world in the next few years. Daad Murad Abdul Rahman is the father of 50 boys and 38 girls. His eldest son, Tariq, is 39 years old, while his youngest child was born just a few months ago. Daad got married 15 times, and has had children from all his wives. Twelve of his wives divorced him, whereas three still remain faithful. He enjoys many benefits offered by the state. His 127 family members were offered seven free houses to live in, and he himself receives pension from the military, as well as substantial financial aid.
Ziona Chana Family (The largest family in the world)
Okay, this one is simply astounding. Ziona Chana has 94 children. Ziona has 39 wives and lives in a 100-room mansion. He is the head of the world’s undoubtedly biggest family with the highest number of children. Other than his children, he has 14 daughters in law and 33 grandchildren. Mr Chana marries the poor women from the village so he can look after them. At least 30 chickens, 132lbs of potatoes and 220lb of rice make their one time meal. It is amazing to see how they all live together with peace and harmony. According to Mr. Chana, they live on the base of mutual love and respect. He also believes to be a special one in this world, for God gave him this many people to love and take care of him. Mr. Chana is still looking for new wives, and says he will never stop looking for them. He is willing to expand his sect and will not hesitate in asking for an English woman.
